Giving Thanks on Thanksgiving
My turkey is gorgeous, the potatoes are mashed and the cranberries are ready. There's only one thing left…time to pause and be thankful for yet another year of family and friends. Unfortunately, in the business world it is less natural to pause to thank people-it's seen as "part of the job." But a thank you can go a long way to cementing a relationship or establishing a new contact. Here are some guidelines to follow:

Be personal: Make sure you know the name or the person and use it when thanking him or her.
Be timely: Try to give your thanks sooner rather than later. Do not assume that people realize you are grateful.
Example: Thank you, Alice for dropping everything yesterday and crunching the numbers for our proposal.
Be specific: Show that you are paying attention by giving a specific example or reason for the thanks. Also include the impact of the good work or deed
Example: Greg, thank you for the impressive review and modifications to our project budget. We could not have landed the sale without those numbers.
At this time of Thanksgiving I would like to thank all of you who have supported Leadership Solutions by purchasing our products, attending our seminars, reading our newsletters, participating in research reports and allowing us in to your companies to assist with your consulting needs. I am grateful for the connections we have.
Happy Thanksgiving.
